About Dog Tags

Dog Tags is a community directory for Wardogs — a place to discover clans (the game calls them PMCs), see how each one plays, and apply without digging through a dozen Discord servers.

It's an unofficial, fan-made project. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Bulkhead or Team17. Game screenshots are from the official press kit and remain © Team17 Digital Ltd.

Sign in with Steam, Discord, Google, or an email link. Linking Steam verifies your identity, which is what makes clan applications mean something. Stats you see now are illustrative — real match data would connect if the game ever exposes it. See Privacy for exactly what's stored.

It's free and ad-free. Running costs are covered by donations, tallied openly on that page.

The Code

The cash and battles may be fake, but the challenge and camaraderie can be real. If you cheat, you're just cheating yourself and others out of that experience.

  1. Respect each other. Friendly rivalry and banter are welcome. Harassment, hate, and personal attacks aren't.

  2. Play fair. No cheating, exploiting, or faking results. Keep competition honest.

  3. Win with humility. Lose with grace. Enjoy the wins. Take the losses. Don't make either personal.

  4. Settle problems without drama. Bring disputes to clan leaders, event organizers, or moderators. Skip the public pile-ons.

  5. Keep it in perspective. We're all war nerds playing games. When you get salty, take a breath. We're here to have a good time.

Play fair. Be decent. Have fun.

Common questions

Why "clans" and not "PMCs"?
Wardogs calls a player company a PMC. We mostly say clan because it's the word players coming from other shooters already know — but they're the same thing: your tag, your roster, your people. Searching “PMC” here just shows you everything.
Is Dog Tags official?
No. It's an unofficial, fan-made project run by one person (@oaktree), a Wardogs player and software engineer. Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Bulkhead or Team17.
Do I have to use Steam to sign up?
No. You can create an account with a Discord login, a Google login, or a one-time email link — and browse, favourite, comment, and even start a clan, and join clans that are open or that invite you. To apply to a clan you link Steam (from settings), which also gives you the Steam-verified badge clans look for.
Why do I sign in with Steam? Is that safe?
“Sign in through Steam” is OpenID, not a permissions grant — it only proves you control a SteamID. Dog Tags can't see your games, friends, inventory, or purchases, and can't change anything on your account; there's no token to steal and nothing to revoke. We store your SteamID, display name, and avatar. A verified identity is what makes clan applications mean something. Only approve on a page whose address is exactly https://steamcommunity.com/openid/login.
Is it really free? What's the catch?
Free, no ads, no paywalled features, no catch. Hosting and upkeep cost money; donations cover that and the ledger is public. Anything past costs goes back into the platform.
What do you do with my data?
Only what's needed to run the directory. No selling, no ad networks, no cross-site tracking. Full detail on the Privacy page.
Do I have to move my clan off Discord?
No — your Discord stays your community hub. Dog Tags is the front door: a searchable page, clear recruitment terms, and an application inbox. Your members join with whatever account they already use.
Someone already listed my clan.
If it's a placeholder marked Example, you can claim it when you register. If someone is impersonating your clan, report the page and a moderator will sort it.
Can I be in more than one clan?
Yes, unless a clan marks itself exclusive. You choose one “active tag” that represents you in-game and on your profile.
How do applications and trials work?
You answer a few questions on the clan's page (or it links to their own form). An officer reviews it. Some clans bring you in on a trial first, then promote you to full member.
What happens if a clan's owner goes inactive?
There's a structured process — after a notice period and moderator review, an officer or long-standing member can request ownership of a genuinely abandoned clan. It is not a way to seize an active one. Details in Terms.
Are the stats and tournaments real?
Not yet. Wardogs doesn't expose match data, so everything on the Leaderboards and Tournaments pages is an illustrative example — always badged as such. If a stats API ever exists, real data connects there.
What is a clan's rank?
Every clan carries a military rank (Recruit up to General) earned from rank XP. XP comes from two places: how complete the clan's page is — emblem, description, schedule, playstyles and so on — and activity over time: running events, earning commendations, roster growth, clan age, and tournament results. A fully filled-out page gets a clan to about Sergeant; everything above that takes real activity. Clans that start while the directory is still filling up are marked founding clans automatically — a permanent badge and a big rank-XP head start. Rank never drops — a quiet clan keeps what it earned. Hover a clan's rank on its page for the breakdown.
Will my profile show up in search engines?
No — player profiles are set to no-index, so search engines skip them. Clan pages are public and indexable (that's the point of a directory); set your profile to private in settings to hide your clans and stats from other players too.
How do I report a problem?
Use the report button on any clan, profile, or comment, or email moderation@dog-tags.dog. What's allowed and not is in Terms.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, from settings. Your profile leaves immediately and everything's recoverable for 30 days if you sign back in; after that it's permanent.
The site says "examples" everywhere — when does that go away?
When about 12 real clans are aboard. The banner at the top counts down; once real communities have taken hold the example clans and players drop out of Discover and the counts in one step. They stay linked from the sample tournaments as illustrations.
How can I help?
The biggest one: spread the word — in-game, in your clan's Discord, to other clans. A directory is only as good as how many communities are on it, and every clan that joins makes it more useful for the next player. Beyond that, use the contact form below with “I'd like to help” for moderation, founding-clan feedback, or just telling me what's broken.
